BET Awards 2024: Celebrating Excellence in Black Entertainment

With a night of incredible performances, stirring speeches, and well-earned recognitions, the BET Awards 2024 lit up the entertainment industry. The event, which was held at the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles, carried on the history of honoring those who have had a significant impact on the industry by celebrating the finest in Black music, movies, sports, and culture.

Kevin Hart, a dynamic comedian and actor, hosted this year’s awards. His humour and enthusiasm kept the crowd laughing the entire time. Beyoncé’s incredible performance opened the evening and set the stage for an incredible line-up of musical performers. Lizzo, Kendrick Lamar, and Lil Nas X were some of the other notable performers that brought their own energy and style to the stage.

Among the night’s notable victors was Megan Thee Stallion, who won artist of the year for her prolific output and chart-topping tunes. For their outstanding performances in “Creed III” and “Euphoria,” respectively, Michael B. Jordan and Zendaya won the best actor and actress prizes in the acting categories.

Beyond commemorating current accomplishments, the BET Awards also recognised trailblazers who cleared the path for upcoming generations. The famous Quincy Jones received the Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of his extraordinary contributions to culture and music.

The evening included advocacy and empowerment in addition to entertainment.
